Rehabilitation Services

The West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) consists of two major programmatic components—the Public Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program and the Disability Determination Section. DRS operates the state-federal VR program in compliance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The primary goal for all DRS consumers is to become productive, working citizens.

To help people with disabilities achieve their employment goals, DRS provides a variety of necessary and appropriate services to eligible individuals to help them meet their identified employment goal. Services may include vocational counseling and guidance, training, rehabilitation technology, pre-employment transition services, job placement, and more.

Disability Determination Section adjudicates Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability applications.

The role of DRS is to operate both the public VR program and the Disability Determination Section in accordance with federal and state regulations.
