Division of Forestry
The West Virginia Division of Forestry protects, nurtures and promotes the wise utilization of West Virginia’s forest resources to ensure that they are a major contributor to the state’s economy on a sustainable basis.
Agency Role:
- Fire education, prevention, enforcement and suppression on all 12 million+ forested acreages public, private and industrial in the State of West Virginia
- Land owner assistance to encourage the wise management of private timberlands within the state
- Logging sediment control to assist logging contractors within the State in the use of Best Management Practices
- Prescribe and oversee the sustainable management of all State Forest lands
- Participate, assist, and collaborate in various programs to improve, promote and grow the forest industry in the State.
