Annual calendar combines wildlife artwork, hunting and fishing dates and conservation support

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) today announced that the 2026 West Virginia Wildlife Calendar is now available to purchase online and at select retail locations around the state.

The award-winning calendar is a celebration of West Virginia’s rich natural heritage and a practical planning tool for hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts. Each calendar features original, hand-painted artwork of native wildlife, key hunting and fishing dates, moon phases and educational articles that highlight the people and programs behind West Virginia’s conservation success stories.

“Every year, the Wildlife Calendar showcases the beauty of our state’s wildlife while also serving as an important tool for sportsmen and women who enjoy hunting, fishing and the outdoors,” said WVDNR Director Brett McMillion. “What makes it even more meaningful is that every purchase directly supports the conservation work that protects and preserves West Virginia’s natural resources for future generations.”

The 2026 calendar includes paintings of the following species:

The calendar also includes articles on West Virginia’s native turtle species and how to help conserve them, a look back at the innovative trap-and-transfer program that revitalized the state’s wild turkey population and an inspiring story of a wildlife education coordinator who turned her childhood dream into a career.
